Fantastic! In most cases, we only place a child in a home where they’ll have their own bedroom. If a foster child is part of a young sibling group, they may be able to share a bedroom with their brothers or sisters.

We generally only place a child in a home where they will have their own bedroom. Having a space to call their own is an important part of helping a child in care feel safe and settled. If your circumstances change in the future, we’d love to hear from you.

That’s fantastic! You’re well suited to all types of foster care.

That’s great to hear! Many of our amazing carers work part-time and combine this with fostering a child, short-term or long-term. It’s all about finding the right fit for you and your lifestyle. Now’s a great time to start thinking about how fostering could work for you.

That’s great to hear! Many of our carers work full time while caring for a foster child. It’s all about finding the right fit for you and your lifestyle. We’ll work with you to explore what age range and type of care might suit your household best, whether that’s respite, short-term, or something more flexible. There is also lots of support for you, like school holiday programs, before and after-school care, transport services, funding for babysitting, etc.

That’s great! You’re eligible to apply for all types of foster care.

That’s absolutely fine. Your circumstances may still be a great fit for short-term, respite, or emergency care. To be considered for long-term placements, you’ll need to be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or hold permanent residency.

That’s wonderful! Your parenting experience will be a great asset on your fostering journey. Becoming a foster family can also be a great learning experience for your own kids. It’s important to chat with your children about the idea of becoming a foster family to make sure everyone feels on board and supported.

Fantastic! You’re well suited to all types of foster care, there are lots of options to explore.

Pets can be a great source of comfort for children in foster care. As long as they aren’t considered dangerous and have no history of biting, having pets in the home is absolutely fine.
